  1. HUD's Mission Statement - Employee Engagement

    Years ago, the Department engaged all employees in the selection of Core Values. This followed a process in which employees and managers prepared draft candidate core values, and senior management selected a subset that was put to the employee vote. Something similar should be done with HUD's Mission Statement. HUD will miss a valuable opportunity to engage its workforce if it does not open up the process to all employees. Thank you.

    • New software for quality improvement

      My Proposal for a new advanced tracking systems for all types of Grants Management and Grants Evaluation working projects is in utilizing some of the new Microsoft Access Data base options available. I found this one on line and there is just so many benefits that can be used for HUD in not only Grants or Grants Evaluation but other departments. This is a template of course and can be modified per purpose and needs.

      My idea is to improve the communication standards of not only employee assignments but management reports for performance of employees. Possibly simplifying reports and outputs…

      • Replace eLogic Models with a web form

        eLogic Models are time consuming and inefficient for everyone involved. We are manually moving an excel file back and forth between the Grants Management office, the Field Office, a contractor, and the Grantee via email and SharePoint. We live in 2013 and we should be using a web form or some kind of web application that can manage the reporting for us.

        This is what the current process for one PIH ROSS grant looks like -->

        1) Grantee submits logic model excel file with application
        2) Grants management sends it to the contractor (emails? SharePoint?)
        3) The contractor locks some…

          Sorry that it has been a long time since hearing from Switchboard on this. As you know, HUD will be moving into a new and exciting strategic direction. With that comes changes in policies, processes and procedures. Switchboard is no different. We are moving all ideas from the Coming 20xx queues to Under Review. These ideas will be evaluated with fresh eyes. Please be patient as we are managing all of ideas with our new vetting process. We will provide feedback to you as soon as possible.

        • Establish an internal Ombudsman Program

          Establish an internal Ombudsman Program to assist HUD employees to discover solutions to their work culture issues prior to the problems getting too far out of reach. The ombudsman's role is becoming better known, within Federal Government Agencies. And, there seems to be a fair amount of bi-partisan support for this program concept in Congress. With staff reductions in many agencies, the need for problem resolution between regulators and the regulated (or affected third parties) is becoming more sensitive. Similarly, as workplace tensions increase due to the dislocations caused by staffing problems and EEO considerations, the need for internal problem-solving…
